06 February 2025 – Hartog Hutton today announced that the final property has been handed over to its new owners, completing the development of Chantry Meadow, Orford on the stunning East Suffolk coast.
The Chantry Meadow project, consisting of 11 properties, has successfully achieved that difficult balance of sympathetically blending new houses into a stunning landscape.
Comprising five detached houses and six standalone bungalows, the small development appealed to those looking to escape to Orford’s tranquil environment.
“Orford is such a special place. The coastal walks are incredible and the village has an amazing community. We are delighted to have found an easy-to-manage new home in such a great location. Hartog Hutton seem to take great pride in their work, and the attention to detail was second to none,” said Debbie, new Chantry Meadow resident.

Contrary to local concerns, every buyer is a permanent resident, which is welcomed by the local shops, pubs and businesses. As well as using local building materials to blend into its setting, Hartog Hutton has carefully landscaped the site with trees and hedges and a footpath to be enjoyed by everyone in the village.
“Building new houses in an area of outstanding natural beauty is always going to throw up extra challenges and we knew we had to be extremely sensitive to local concerns,” explained George Wells, director of Hartog Hutton. “We spent a lot of time getting the designs right, for instance keeping the view of the wonderful castle over our new rooftops while driving or walking into the village. We are proud to have achieved such a great looking development that has been so popular with its new residents.”
A commuted sum was made for affordable homes, as part of Hartog Hutton’s contribution to the local community. Every property at Chantry Meadow follows the same high specification and environmentally friendly credentials that defines a Hartog Hutton home.
