First move in 35 years proves a winning decision
Olwen Ingram is a bright, lively and sociable lady. But when she made the decision to move house for the first time in 35 years, whilst also caring for her husband, it was no small feat.
Buying a new build property on the Rising Sun Hill development in Rattlesden was first suggested by Olwen’s son, who knew Hartog Hutton to be a reputable local firm. After looking at other houses, both old and new, nothing came close to the space, layout and convenience of the Hartog Hutton properties and the decision was made.
Choosing to move from an old, listed building into a new-build house that was still just a plan took a leap of faith but offered many benefits. Olwen went for a four-bedroom property at the back of the site with views over rolling hills. She was able to choose the outside colour of her house, increase the size of the boot room to accommodate her dog and select every finish down to the kitchen taps.

“Everyone I dealt with was incredibly obliging and kind. I never felt pressurised and could speak to someone from Hartog Hutton and get an answer immediately. The whole process from start to finish was efficient and I haven’t had any issues during or since the build completed.”
Rising Sun Hill is a small development of 14 homes, clustered around two separate private roads. There is lots of space between each house and each one has its own character and a decent sized garden. All these factors came into play in Olwen’s decision to move here.
The location is stunning and a footpath at the back of the scheme leads into the lively village centre is great for Olwen to exercise her spaniel, Dasher.
“If you want to deal with a friendly, family firm that you can trust, I can think of no-one better than Hartog Hutton,” concluded Olwen.
